In this episode, we take a look at how to build a DIY portable power station using a 12V lithium iron phosphate battery and a Victron Phoenix 1200 VA low frequency transformer based inverter. This system can easily be put together in a matter of 10 minutes or less and cost less than $600. You can add all the Bluetooth capabilities and charge controllers for roughly the same cost. This system will be highly reliable mainly because it uses a low frequency transformer based system instead of almost all other power stations that are currently on the market, which are high frequency, based inverters. Due to the reliability, I have personally experienced with high frequency based inverters failing this is the optimal and more preferred system. Also because everyone knows the Victron Phoenix inverters and Victron equipment in general just seems to work all the time. The entire system can be monitored using free apps that can run on your phone that connect devices via Bluetooth. You can monitor the specs of the battery and the inverter giving you full monitoring capability directly. What I've noticed is many users. In this episode, we show you how to build a 1.2 kilowatt hour DIY portable power station using parts roughly around $550. Most of these parts can be had for less if you substitute certain parts in and out and you can customize this station to meet your needs. For example, my initial designs originally included a charge controller, but then after realizing I will never really charge this in the wild using solar we decided to remove that charge controller. Version two included, connecting the battery and inverter using Anderson SB 50 connectors, but then I also realize I would really never swap out the batteries that often or ever to even need having that. You can also customize power station with lower wattage, inverters and lower capacity batteries to be more portable or light, which makes this a very, useful customizable power station. Tailor it to meet your needs. This design allows you to not be locked into anyone ecosystem also gives you the ability to monitor your power station using Bluetooth apps.

In this episode, we take a quick look at the full charging of a Tesla model Y electric vehicle using the Tesla level 2 wall charger, which is powered by the off grid inverter EG4 12,000XP. This unit can heat with low ambient temperatures and is able to produce heat during the winter storm of 2024. In this video, we take a look at how to revive and start charging an EG4 WP | 48V 100AH Waterproof Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. this battery is currently in some kind of safe mode or protect mode and will not take a charge. Voltage reading across the terminals shows no voltage. The Bluetooth connectivity for the BMS also will not connect. We tried to methods on how to get the battery going again and it seems to be successful. The battery is able to charge up the capacity and also discharges capacity. This is just one way to do it. The battery in this video is one of EG4's Legacy products. But I assume this method will work on most lithium iron phosphate batteries, which have gone into Protect mode. In this episode, we charge a Tesla off grid using EG4 indoor wall mount batteries and the EG4 6000XP. This off system is powering the Tesla third generation wall connector and is able to charge the Tesla at level two speeds up to 48 amps. A single 6000xp is only able to push up to 23 amps, but with a larger inverter or multiple inverters you should be able to push the full 48 amps through the wall connector.

In this episode we program two Victron Energy MultiPlus II 48v 3000 VA system to operate in 240v Split Phase. This system is hooked up to a load center and is programmed using the Victron Interface MK3-USB-C (VE.Bus to USB-C) connected to a macbook pro. In the programming options there are options to operate the inverter chargers in parallel, 120 offset, and 180 offset. To get the 240v Split phase for use in the United state, we use the 180 degree offset. The Victron Energy Inverter chargers in this episode are connected to the EG4 Indoor Wall Mount battery.

In this episode, we take a look at how to get 240 V split phase from a single phase 120V power station. In this episode we used it Eco flow Delta 2 power station and get 240V. But this set up will work for almost any power station that is powerful enough to provide 240V split phase load to devices. We use the Victron energy auto transformer, which has the ability to step up 120V single phase to 240V split phase. They have a 32 amp model and 100 amp model. this device has many different capabilities, and step up is only one function.

In this episode we take a look at the Victron Phoenix 48v 1200VA inverter. This is a solid low frequency transformer based inverter that runs on the 48V platform. They make other inverters of this type in different wattage and in different voltages. This episode will take a look at how to set up BMS communications between your Victron energy system and EG4 batteries. This procedure will work on EG4 indoor wallmount battery, EG4 power pro battery, and EG4 long life/LL battery. We set up the battery communications using the CERBO GX but it will also work with the CERBO S and the ekrano. You have a few options here. One option is to purchase the Victron energy cable, the second option is to make your own cable from a pre-terminated standard cat five cable, last option is to custom make both ends using cat5 or cat 5 cable.

The optimization function works without any additional components out of the box, but the rabbit shut down, requires another module, and the monitoring solution also requires another module plus a subscription. In this episode, we take a look at the parallel kit from EG4. This kit is designed to parallel powerpro and indoor wallmount batteries using their bus bars. The kit is the same item for both the power pro battery and indoor wall mount battery. The kit includes three cables positive cable, negative cable, and communications cable. The power delivery cables are 2/0 and the communications cable is a cat6 cable. They are roughly 53 inches in length and the communications cable is closer to 59 inches in length. You would use these cables to parallel connect the power or indoor batteries using the quick connect Degson connectors and the built-in bus bars. The cables come terminated with the quick connectors and the RJ45 connectors for quick install installation. In this episode, we take a look at how to wire up and connect the EG4 6000XP and the EG4 indoor wallmount battery and it's corresponding conduit box. This comes as a kit even though you can purchase each of the components separately. You will get everything you need to get going and connect up the kit, but you will need to provide your own battery cable lugs and a way to crimp them. This is probably the best value and versatile off grid inverter system you can get because it can also do 240 V on a single unit. Everything is well integrated with and it looks compact and works nicely together.

In this episode, we go over how to set up battery communications with the EG4 3KW off grid inverter and the lifepo4 48V 100ah server rack batteries from AO lithium. The inverter comes with the cable you need to use, you need to use the USB to RJ-45 cable and use the CAN/485A port on the lithium battery. Which is the far left port on the battery. If you want to add additional communications with other batteries in the set you can use ethernet cable and pretty much Daisy chain the batteries using the two right RJ45 ports CAN485B.
